King of the Castle

Glazing Films & Blinds were asked by the curator at Durham castle to come up with a solution to protect the ancient leaded windows of the Tunstall Gallery and Chapel and also to protect the artifacts and furnishings from UV damage.

Because of the sensitivity of the building and it's Grade 1 listed status we had to come up with a solution that was unobtrusive.

The solution we came up with was to install optically clear, UV resistant acrylic panels in front of the windows, as the windows could not take having a UV film applied to them because of their fragility, and also a subtle roller blind system using a sunscreen fabric so the view from the castle windows wasn't obscured.
