Privacy Window Film

Windows are a valuable source of light as well as providing a welcome view to the outside world. Sometimes however, privacy is required and privacy window film is an inexpensive solution.

Covid-19

Due to infection control, blinds are being removed in areas which are being used for patients with Covid-19, or areas being used for Covid-19 testing. To provide privacy in these areas, the application of a frosted privacy film or vinyl gives these areas back their privacy and is an inexpensive solution to privacy issues caused by the removal of blinds.

General Privacy

There are two primary types of privacy that an application of privacy window film can deliver - full time two-way privacy or daytime one-way privacy. Both types of privacy window film are available in a number of finishes.

Daytime one-way privacy can be achieved with an application of reflective window film. The window film appears reflective on the brighter side of the glass, which is always the external side during daylight hours, thus preventing vision through the glass. The view from the inside out is maintained. As the film works on the light balance, a ratio of light to dark of 3:1 is necessary for the film for optimum performance. Reflective privacy film is available in different grades and colours and in both finishes suitable for both internal and external application. As well as providing privacy, reflective window film can provide a range of other benefits including UV protection, reducing glare and in some cases protection against solar heat gain.

Two-way privacy is offered by window films such as frosted window film, or solid colour vinyls. Frosted window film will give your glazing the appearance of acid-etched/sandblasted glass, preventing vision both ways whilst still allowing high levels of light to pass through the glass. Available in a range of finishes, frosted window film provides an immediate and attractive privacy solution. It can also be computer cut to take the form of patterns and logos and can also be printed on to feature customer artwork or designs, creating a truly bespoke privacy film (as pictured).

Solid colour vinyls are available in a wide range of colours and will block both vision and a large proportion of the light. Vinyl is a good choice for blocking unsightly views or for use whilst building or renovation works take place. Vinyl is not suitable for application to every type of glass, so if you are considering this, or any other privacy window film, please call us on 01207 284 284 or email enquiries@glazing-films.co.uk and a member of the team will be able to assist.
